B Movie Boxcar BluesFrom: "Briefcase Full of Blues" The Blues Brothers - 1978 / A lot of peeps didn't realize that John Belushi & Dan Aykroyd led a band comprised of some of the greatest Blues Musicians of the day,...Backed by such experienced professional R&B sidemen as lead guitarist Steve Cropper, sax man Lou Marini, trumpeter Alan Rubin, & bass guitarist Donald "Duck" Dunn - who were legendary session players for the Stax label.
John Mayer's 2009 "Battle Studios" album is his latest
11 song offering. John has developed a style that's somewhere
between Eric Clapton & Sting and is a rare triple threat;
songwriter, singer, and excellent guitar player. Enclosed
is one of my favorites off the album.

"Buckingham Nicks" was released by the Duo in vinyl form
back in 1973 and was considered a flop. It's gone on to garner
cult status and is considered quite rare these days. The enclosed
recording is from a vinyl album. In a Sept., 2006 interview;
Lindsey expressed an interest in finally releasing Buckingham
Nicks on Cd and possibly touring with Stevie to promote the
new re-release.
Legend has it - Mick Fleetwood (His surname, combined with
that of John McVie, was the inspiration for the name of the
original 1967 Peter Green-led Fleetwood Mac - which then led
to Bob Welch) was in a Van Nuys, California recording studio
'Sound City' 1974 (Scouting for replacements for Fleetwood Mac
as Bob Welch had retired) where they were showing Mick the
equipment by playing "Frozen Love" which had been mixed there
for an American band; 'Buckingham Nicks'. Upon hearing the duo
for the first time Mick had to know WHO THEY WERE !!
Lindsey Buckingham was coincidentally at Sound City that day
recording some demos. Lindsey was quickly introduced to the
drummer from the British Band,...Mick soon asked him to join
Fleetwood Mac,...Lindsey agreed, on the condition that his musical
partner and girlfriend, Stephanie "Stevie" Nicks, also become
part of the band; Mick agreed to this, and the rest,...
is Fleetwood Mac history.

The Rockin' Blues Band; Storyville, released 3 albums under
that name before breaking up. Lead Singer: Malford Milligan,
Bass Player: Tommy Shannon, Drums: Chris Layton whom were
Stevie Ray Vaughn's Double Trouble,...along with Joe Ely
and John Mellencamp's David Grissom & Dave Holt on Guitars
were a hard hitting touring act that almost redefined
Blues Rock. I was fortunate to hear them open for the
Fabulous Thunderbirds at the Cain's Ballroom, and a
second time at the original Sunset Grill - on Peoria for 6 bux.

One of the most critically acclaimed musicians to date
and a co-founder of rock super-group Traffic.
Singer/songwriter/guitarist Dave Mason finalized his most
personal effort in years with the release of a solo album,
26 Letters ~ 12 Notes on October 14, 2008.
Dave Mason has always been an influential guitarist,
singer & songwriter,...I thought I'd enclose MY favorite
version of Dylan's classic song for your consideration.
One of the best concerts I ever witnessed was Dave Mason
at the Cain's Ballroom - back in the mid 80's - promoting
album "Old Crest On A New Wave" where he, along with
Vanilla Fudge keyboardist - Mike Finnigan, performed
this version.

In her early career, Karla Bonoff sang background vocals
for Linda Ronstadt and Wendy Waldman before releasing
her debut album in 1977, titled Karla Bonoff (1977) from
which this song is from. I love the sweet tone of Kenny
Edward's Gibson guitar throughout this mood setting song.
As a songwriter, Bonoff's songs have been interpreted by
other artists such as "Home" by Bonnie Raitt, "Tell Me Why"
by Wynonna Judd, and "Isn't It Always Love" by Lynn Anderson.
Linda Ronstadt has successfully recorded a number of her songs,
including "Someone To Lay Down Beside Me," "Lose Again,"
"Trouble Again," "All My Life," "Falling Star" and "Goodbye
My Friend," thus helping to introduce Bonoff to a larger audience.

Joe Bonamassa was born in Utica, New York.
He received his first guitar from his father at the age of 5,
and by age 7 he was playing Stevie Ray Vaughan tunes note for
note. At the age of 11, during a short period of being
mentored by Danny Gatton, he learned such styles as
country and jazz as well as heavy rock. During this time
with Gatton, Bonamassa sat in with Gatton's band whenever
they played in New York. He first opened for B. B. King at
12 years of age. After first hearing him play, King said,
“This kid's potential is unbelievable. He hasn't even begun
to scratch the surface. He's one of a kind.” At 14, he was
invited to attend a Fender guitar event; during that trip to
the West Coast he met Berry Oakley, Jr. Bonamassa and Berry
founded the group Bloodline with Miles Davis's son Erin
and Robby Krieger's son Waylon. They released one album
which produced two chart singles — "Stone Cold Hearted",
and "Dixie Peach." He has since played with other music
greats including Buddy Guy, Foreigner, Robert Cray,
Stephen Stills, Joe Cocker, Gregg Allman, Steve Winwood,
Paul Jones, Eric Clapton, and Derek Trucks.

Another new Singer, Musician, Songwriter to keep an eye on !!
Sara Beth Bareilles born December 7, 1979 - is an American
singer-songwriter and pianist. She achieved mainstream
success in 2007 with the hit single "Love Song", which brought
her into the number one spot on the Billboard Pop 100 chart.
In June 2007, iTunes featured Bareilles' single "Love Song"
as the free single of the week. The following month, her
major-label debut Little Voice shot to #1 on the list of most
downloaded albums of the music store in its first week of
release, and debuted at #45 on the Billboard 200 chart.
